WUBEN is a flashlight company that was in established in 1981 with a reputation for developing innovative and multifunctional flashlights that are perfect for outdoor adventuring. It has just expanded its business market to Australia.
Fishing World test drove the G5 and X4 flashlights to gauge an insight into how these functions are ideal for fishing/camping scenarios.

G5
This flashlight goes against the grain of a traditional keyright flashlight design. The G5 is the size of a lighter and emits a solid beam of light, making this pound for pound surprisingly powerful. Wuben says that the maximum 400 lumen beam can carry and illuminate objects up to 82m in distance.
The 180-degree rotatable head and adjustable clip allow the G5 to be applicable in several situations, potentially replacing a range of everyday torches. I found that the clip fitted perfectly to my cap and was usable as a head torch. I also fitted it to my lifejacket to make it easily accessible on the water. The magnetic base was perfect for attaching to the trailer when winching at the ramp.
Ambient, low-light settings were great for night fishing, where I didn’t want too much light to disturb the conditions. Also, allowing my eyes to remain adjusted to the natural darkness. I used this setting when needing to change lures.
I liked how easy this torch is to charge and had a solid battery life. If you have it on full tilt it lasts just shy of an hour. But I, liked the lower light settings for fishing to help with the organisation of tackle and the boat. Using the ambient settings, I was able to fish multiple night sessions on a single charge.
The durability of the design is fantastic for fishing. The metal frame makes for a solid construction that is built to last. The G5 is also waterproof. I deliberately dropped it in the water to be fully submerged, and the technology did not skip a beat. I would ensure that you thoroughly washed your torch if this happened in salt water.
G5 RRP is $39.99. More info here.

X4
Packing a lot of the same features as the G5, the X4 is another perfect torch for fishing. With a waterproof, metal construction the X4 is a larger, yet still compact model. The size of the X4 fits comfortably in the hand and easily slides into your pocket.
A whopping 1500 lumen maximum with flood and beam options. Light travels up to 205m in distance and can last around 3 hours in this setting. The softer, warmer options are found on the multi-coloured side light, which is awesome for tying knots and organising equipment, but also great for walking back to your car after an afternoon mission. The roller on the side of the torch made it very easy to adjust how dim you needed the light.
You can leave the X4 free-standing on its flat base, clip it onto a backpack or magnetically snap it to your trailer, car or garage. An extra option is the bike clip that also fits perfectly to a boat railing, avoiding the need to wire in permanent lighting.
The X4 is a very good all-rounder if you want a torch for camping, being on the water boating at night, hiking, or simply getting your gear sorted. It is 1 torch that does everything you could want from a torch this size, highly recommended.
The X4 RRP is $74.99, check out their sales at: www.wuben.au
