BFCA issues protest flyer

The recently formed Boating and Fishing Council of Australia (BFCA) has taken the step of issuing a protest flyer in the wake of recent developments that have greatly affected – or are soon to – Australia’s recreational anglers.

National spokesperson for the BFCA Dean Logan, issued a press release this week that stated:

“The recreational fishing sector, under the leadership of the Rudd Government, is at a concerning cross-roads. This is evidenced by protest rallies over the past 3 months in Queensland, New South Wales and this coming week in Victoria, and by the establishment of a recreational fishing and lifestyle party as a direct result of Peter Garrett’s unilateral decision to declare 1 million square kilometres of ocean a conservation zone with not one ounce of consultation with recreational fishing, boating or community interests.

As a Council we are 100% committed to the establishment of sound scientifically based environmental policies – in fact Australia is a world leader – however the Rudd Government is not taking the recreational fishing and boating sectors seriously.”

This protest flyer is being distributed around Australia and the BFCA urges anglers to print it out, display it in shops and distribute wherever they see fit.

The flyer can be downloaded here.
