NSW fishers are gearing up for a big weekend, with the official opening of the state’s trout season this Saturday, 5 October.

The NSW DPI has said despite the state’s current dry conditions, many streams and rivers are in good condition and the spring weather and well-stocked waterways will still see fishers flocking to their favourite fishing spots. If you’re looking to get into a few trout, check out “10 trout fishing tips”.

Last season over 1.87 million juvenile trout and salmon were released into the rivers and streams across NSW. Releases were conducted with Acclimatisation Societies as part of the NSW DPI Fish Stocking Program.

NSW DPI is reminding anglers check they have a current and valid NSW Recreational Fishing Licence prior to fishing this weekend.

Information on the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee and trout fishing rules are available from www.dpi.nsw.gov.au.
