WITH the arrival of spring, NSW-based bluewater anglers have been enjoying some champagne tuna fishing in recent weeks.
Sydney-based angler Simon Fisher reports that boats over the weekend encountered large numbers of yellowfin tuna from as far south as Wollongong and all the way north to Sydney.
Fisher told Fisho today that “after getting unlucky in the Wollongong comp we headed back up to Sydney along the shelf and found flying tuna everywhere.”
“Landed these 3 out of a 4-way (hookup) on Smartbill then got a couple on stick baits with fish busting up all around.”
