OSPREY has a great reputation for producing premium quality travel, backpacking and luggage essentials. The Transporter range has been developed meeting Bluesign standards adhering to rigorous social and environmental benchmarks. The exterior has been designed with 100% recycled nano tough materials that are water resistant.
I tested the Transporter 120L Duffel Bag for the Fishing World “Solomons On The Sauce” experience. The reason I wanted a duffle bag for this project was the fact that they have so much space, and I had a lot of gear. Too much gear… Clothing, camera gear, reels, tackle (two top water lure rolls, four tackle trays, two jig wallets, kitchen utensils etc.) My luggage weighed in at 50kg and still had room to move in the Transporter Duffel. That is a ridiculous amount of gear for a week long trip and unusual… But gee whiz I put this bag through some serious testing. I would recommend the 95L model if you were travelling without two of everything.

The Transporter 120L is light weight and super strong. With the load that this bag was tasked with the handles, seams or zips never blinked an eye and came back in pristine condition. The bag itself was thrown around onto planes and across boats to get to our destination, it went through rain and kept everything inside dry. When it arrived home and was unpacked the bag folds down flat into its own storage unit, unlike bulky hard luggage that takes up space when not in use.
To access the main compartment there is a large opening that reveals the entire floorplan of the bag for easy access. Once aIl arrived at my destination the bag was fully opened and I was in and out of it all the time. There were a few compartments to stash my passport and small incidentals for safe keeping. The solid YKK zips are water resistant with further cover provided by a cover so water drips away from the zips.

I was worried about moving this bag around due to the weight. The Transporter has the option to utilise straps as a back pack that can be stowed away. This made a big difference to move the bag. I wasn’t carrying it for long distances but it helped out immensely until I could find a trolley, or once we settled overseas, a stronger Solomon Island local to give my shoulders a breather.
If you plan to utilise the straps it is important to pack your duffel accordingly. You want to make sure that the heavy items are stashed down the bottom, also padding out any spaces with clothes to ensure that there is minimal movement inside. Use the internal straps in the Transporter 120L to secure the contents.
I highly recommend using Osprey to get your gear from A to B. The Transporter 120L Duffel has a serious amount of volume and is built to last.
