THE Inno Rod Case J (IF45SG) is a hard and light case that did a great job protecting and transporting my rods on a recent trip to the Solomon Islands.
With telescopic rod tubes, the case carries the weight of all lengths even if the rods inside are shorter than the length required.
The Inno case has a modular setup where you can add extensions (IF46SG) on either end to increase the length of space for a particular trip. I needed to carry 8ft popping rods, so I bolted the add ons at either end. They were very easy to instal and fitted like a glove. If I were to do a trip focussing on plastic fishing I could take two-piece rods with only one add on and save dead space and weight.
Walking rod tuces through a terminal to get to oversize luggage is a bit of a punish. The Inno tubes are much lighter than alternatives and also have handles along the length to easily balance the load.
The Rod J case has a foam protective cushion for your rod tips at the business end, which the rods slide into and prevents banging around in transit. I chose to bundle rods up and use rod straps to keep them together. I was able to fit 9 rods into the rectangularly shaped frame. Including 3 x 8ft popping/stickbaiting rods, 3 x 5’6 jigging rods and 3 x 7ft plastics rods (1 x 2piece and 2x 4 piece travel rods). This is more than what is recommended by Inno, but the travel rods were always going to find some space.
One of the things that I love about this tube is the easy access. There is a button that locks into place. When released the cap comes off and you have immediate access. You can also fit a lock to the handle to secure your rods in transit.
The colour itself makes the tube recongnisable. The case itself was under 2kg with the add ons which is exceptionally light comparatively. I think the materials used are as strong as you would ever need and that this is a great option for looking after your precious rods.
