ICEY Tek has released their latest cooler technology “Oneskin”. Fishing World tested the largest model, the split lid 75L.
The split lid does make life easier for the positioning of the cooler. One end can be under the gunwale or a bench, with the contents still being easily accessible. Or you can tell your mate not to bother about jumping up from their seat when you want to throw a decent-sized snapper in your ice slurry or grab a cold drink.
In terms of size, the 75L model is perfect for most snapper fishos or inshore anglers. It would fit a specimen as big as you would want to keep. The 75L Oneskin has a slot that runs down the middle where a divider can be fitted. This a great addition because you can use the divider to separate your food and drinks from your fish if you are chasing plate-sized species. This sized model works perfectly in combination with the size 4 Icey Tek bricks that will stay frozen for longer ice, won’t leak and reduce the need for single-use plastics.
You can really tell that this is a premium quality cooler with the design and materials used. All the components, including drain plugs at both ends, silicone latches, non-slip rubber feet, integrated hinge system and the webbing handles are sturdy, comfortable and built to last.
Testing the One Skin model out, Fishing World found that two size four bricks kept frozen for five days. The outside temperature was warm, but the cooler was kept in the shade. There were no contents in the cooler other than the bricks. Two bags of servo ice lasted four days, which is the equivalent in litres to the two Icey Tek size four bricks. For both tests, the One Skin was cooled before packing with ice, which is good practice for anyone taking a cooler out for an adventure.
The tough polyethene outer skin and polyurethane insulation are what keep the contents cool and protected. A super smooth internal finish makes for an easy clean at the end of the day, just spray it out with a hose.
