ACCORDING to the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW, the recent change of government presents recreational fishers with a few new possibilities.
Labor promised a trial of recreational fishing on Prospect Reservoir, and RFA said it will be pressing for that trial to go ahead. But the RFA and Council of Freshwater Anglers have been pressing for changes to fishing regulations on Sydney water supply impoundments for many years, with no success.
Despite support from NSW DPI Fisheries no changes have been allowed on any of the major storages.
Changes on fishing on Woodford Dam and Fitzroy Falls Dam have been denied by WaterNSW and NSW Health, and changes to allow electric motors on kayaks/canoes on Tallowa are apparently held up by WaterNSW risk assessments.
