THE Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation (ARFF), the national peak body for recreational fishing, has announced the return of the National Recreational Fishing Forum — the first since 2020 — to be held on Tuesday, 22 July 2025 at the Sofitel Broadbeach, Gold Coast.
This forum will bring together leaders, decision-makers, advocates and innovators to shape the future of recreational fishing in Australia. The event will explore the sector’s biggest challenges and opportunities, with a focus on four key themes: the value of recreational fishing, stewardship and sustainability, data and decision-making, and the rising participation of women in fishing.
“Opportunities like these to come together as a sector and tackle some of the big issues don’t come along often,” said ARFF Director, Cassie Price.
“We’re calling on passionate rec fishers and professionals to join us and contribute. We’ve built in plenty of space for networking, discussion and practical workshops, so everyone can play a part in shaping the sector’s future.”
The 2025 Forum is supported by FRDC, the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA), the Queensland Department of Primary Industries (QDPI), and OzFish Unlimited. These valued sponsors are helping to make the Forum possible and highlight the strong partnerships across the sector.
Registrations are now open. Early bird rates are available, and ARFF member groups receive an exclusive discounted rate.
