RECFISHWEST is inviting young fishers to try and catch a rainbow trout at its trailblazing suburban fish stocking program – Fish in the ‘Burbs.
Fish in the ‘Burbs is a two-day community fishing event and fishing clinic, held at Austin Lakes Estate, South Yunderup, from 23 – 24 October.
Hosted in partnership with the Shire of Murray, Recfishwest Operations Officer Sam Russell said Fish in the ‘Burbs offered a fun, family-friendly fishing experience.
“Everyone should have the opportunity to try and catch a fish, especially in a safe setting, without necessarily having to venture along roads less travelled,” Russell said.
“Fish in the ‘Burbs does exactly that and brings the trout to an easily accessible location – literally metres from the front doors of some lucky fishers who live in South Yunderup.”
The rainbow trout set to be released into the lake in the centre of Austin Lakes Estate are bred at the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s (DPIRD) Pemberton-based hatchery.
