FISHERIES Queensland is reminding anglers a closed season applies to snapper and pearl perch throughout Queensland tidal waters from midnight 15 July until midnight 16 August.
Fisheries says the new seasonal closure – introduced in September last year – aims to reduce fishing pressure on both species and protect snapper stock during its spawning season when they are most vulnerable to being caught. The introduced closure complemented a change in size limit for pearl perch from 35cm to 38cm.
