TASMANIAN anglers with a disability will be pleased to know that Taswater and the Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) have coordinated the restocking of Risdon Brook Reservoir.

The reservoir is reserved for anglers with a disability with fishing only permitted from two purpose-built platforms. Last stocked in 2015, stocking was not possible in 2019 due to low water levels required for dam maintenance. Water levels are returning to normal and should be at a good level for fishing from the start of the 2020-21 season on August 1.

Rachaelle Downey from Taswater was on hand to see 300 healthy yearling rainbow trout released into the reservoir recently.

“This is a great opportunity for anglers with disabilities to access a safe and beautiful fishery within proximity of Hobart. The gates are open from 7.30am to 4.30pm 365 days a year,” Downey said.
