FISHING mates Chris Errity, Andrew Maher and Steve Bormann drew the winning ticket at this year’s Barra Nationals for a fabulous trip to the Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge.
The group returned from their visit to the Lodge and Chris Errity reported on their adventure:
“I am just back from 4 magnificent days fishing near Maningrida, staying at the Arnhemland Barramundi Lodge with my two mates, Andrew Maher and Steve Bormann. We had a great time landing many species including barra, threadfin salmon, mangrove jack, black jewfish and golden snapper.”
As well as stacks of barra, the boys caught a swag of other species including black jewfish.
“We landed around 350 barra with the biggest measuring 95cm caught by Steve on a Reidys Large B52. The fishing at times was insane with triple hook-ups on barramundi common.”
“Other fish landed in the creeks and rivers included giant herring, oxeye herring, estuary cod, javelin fish, blue salmon, queenfish and a big Queensland groper which gave me a bit of a workout on the new Shimano Chronarch!”
Steve Bormann with another memorable catch a 93cm Barra caught with Lodge Guide, Peter Twine.
Thumper threadfin Salmon were a welcome by-catch to the group’s 350 barra. Andrew Maher with a beauty.
