The 2010-11 edition of the Victorian Recreational Fishing Guide has been released.
The updated Guide includes information about closed seasons, bag limits, minimum sizes and permitted equipment. Also outlined are the new rules introduced over the last 18 months, including:
* Reduced catch limit for pipis in the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park near Venus Bay;
* Revised limits around swimming shrimp and bass yabbies;
* Removal of the catch limit for European green shore crabs, which are an invasive species;
* Reduced legal minimum length for silver trevally from 23cm to 20cm.
There is also an expanded section in the new Guide which sets out the different regulations in place in both inland and marine waters.
The new Guide can be viewed online at www.dpi.vic.gov.au/fishing. Hard copies can be obtained free of charge from tackle shops, VIC DPI offices or by ringing 136 186.
