THE iconic Sydney International Boat Show will return to the International Convention Centre (ICC) and Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour from August 1 to 4, 2024.
The four-day event set amongst Sydney’s iconic Darling Harbour, will showcase the best of the boating lifestyle. From the large fleet of powerboats and sailboats on the purpose-built event marina, through to a host of premium exhibitors displaying the latest trailer boats, personal watercraft, and marine technology in the exhibition halls.
After strong visitation last year, 2024 is set to be even bigger, with highlights to include an on-water display with more than 200 boats, 19,000sqm of indoor exhibitor space, and a host of popular entertainment and activities, such as the popular fishing masterclasses, watersports demonstrations, and boating and marine education, all aimed at appealing to both the novice boaters and seasoned marine enthusiasts.
Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) President, Adam Smith said the Sydney International Boat Show is a highlight of the boating events calendar, as well as a popular day out for the whole family.
“Whilst the Show caters to everything the serious or new-entry boater requires in one location, it really has become a great day out for all ages and interests, especially those exploring options to immerse themselves in the great outdoors on our famous harbour and fantastic waterways across the State,” Smith said.
This year exhibitors and visitors can also expect some exciting changes, including an expanded and reconfigured exhibition space at our purpose-built marina in Cockle Bay, expansion of the Discover Sailing & Paddling Hub and entertainment stage, and additional displays and activities throughout the show precinct to enhance the overall visitor experience.
“With water being central to the iconic Australian lifestyle, the marine and boating industry plays an important role. This Show brings together the boating community, from existing to new, to engage, educate and share with the wider community face-to-face,” said Smith.
Off the back of last year’s event the BIA commissioned an independent economic and social impact report for the first time. The findings revealed the event had an AUD$345M impact on the economy and created 980 jobs.
The report also found the event, which attracted close to 47,000 visitors, not only delivered a significant economic result but also proved a success in social benefit of a diverse audience from people of all backgrounds and budgets, and especially popular with families.
“We’re delighted to work once again with our event delivery partner, Mulpha Events to produce an event recognised as one of the standout boat shows internationally. Key areas of focus that we have identified for this year’s event are around diversity, sustainability and fostering employment and careers across the industry,” said Smith.
“I have no doubt that our existing formula coupled with our new initiatives for 2024 will further cement the event’s reputation nationally and on the global stage,” he said.
In 2023 the Show attracted 46,919 visitors, 233 exhibitors, 220 boats on water, 424 boats in the halls across 19,030sqm, and launched 68 new products.
The Sydney International Boat Show is presented by the Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) and Mulpha Events and supported by Partner in Safety – Transport for NSW.
