Boaties to benefit from Booderee upgrade

BOATERS in the Booderee National Park on the NSW South Coast will soon have the use of a new $900,000 wharf at the Murray’s beach break wall and boat ramp precinct.

Park manager Scott Suridge said the project would replace the old wooden jetty, known as Murray’s wharf. The old jetty suffered major structural damage after storms, forcing the park to close it for public safety reasons.

Mr Suridge is delighted with its replacement, a wharf that will offer increased tie up space and more convenience for the park’s many boat users.

“We’re investing nearly $900,000 in this boating precinct, to design and construct this new jetty which will include disabled access and improved walking access from the car park. It’s a substantial capital improvement project for the park,” Suridge said.

“New South Wales-based company, Landmark Marinas Pty Ltd, trading name Clements Marine Services, are undertaking its construction. The first step is to fabricate the jetty’s structure – which will begin immediately.

“After that Clements Marine Services will install the jetty at Murray’s Beach from August to end of October. Local contractors are also installing an elevated walkway to improve access from Murray’s car park to the jetty. We’re expecting the project will be complete by November this year – right in time for our busy summer season.”

During the construction phase, the park will have to close Murray’s Beach boat ramp from 22 July to 8 November for public safety.
