BRISBANE based aluminium plate boat manufacturer Formosa Marine has announced its 2016 model range of Sea-Rod Plate boats will be launched at the Melbourne Boat Show next month.
On display at the Geelong Boating Centre stand will be a Formosa 520 and 550 Deluxe Runabout that features the new innovative Step Transom with Fold-Away Lounge Seat.
The Sea-Rod range is made up of two models – the Deluxe and Offshore.
Formosa says the Deluxe features plate boat construction and offers build quality with competitive pricing.
The Offshore range, with high tensile construction, features a self draining aluminium deck to provide peace of mind – whatever the conditions.
The following major changes apply to 520, 550, 580, 620 and 660 models:
1 Step Transom
2 Fold-Away Lounge Seat
3 Extra Large Transom Storage Shelf
4 Full Length Pod with four Ballast Tubes
Sea-Rods are renowned for their four chamber counter balance ballast, and now also have a fully enclosed pod. Formosa says its off-keel water ballasts not only lower the hull line in the water but further minimise hull roll (caused by sea swell or uneven passenger distribution) by the chambers on the opposite side working as a counter weight to this movement.
Note – Models in Formosa’s 430 to 480 range, including the Barra Boat, will be available as a branded Sea-Rod but will not have a ballast system or step transom.
