LOWRANCE has announced enhanced navigational functionality for its HDS Gen2 and HDS Gen2 Touch range.
This functionality provides Easy Routing from C-MAP by Jeppesen and Autorouting from Navionics, and is available thanks to a free software upgrade.
Users can now easily and automatically create the shortest, safe route based on selected start and end points to quickly and painlessly plan a route.
Using calculations based upon vessel settings and available chart data, routes are shown overlaid on the chart, highlighting the safest route and pointing out potentially dangerous, or potentially unsafe options, to ensure that boaters get to their destinations as safely as possible.
The software update also adds Dynamic Tides and Currents for Jeppesen C-MAP Max-N+ users, providing a graphical representation of current conditions when the chart is zoomed beyond the 1NM scale. Standard, current icons have been replaced by colour-coded arrows indicating the direction and speed of the current; selecting an arrow will open the modified currents page for expanded Ebb and Flood information.
Boaters can get these new features by installing the latest 3.0 software update to any Lowrance HDS Gen2 or HDS Gen2 Touch unit. This software is available as a free online download and also includes improvements to charting and navigational features, as well as the routing functionality for Jeppesen C-MAP MAX-N+ cartography and Navionics Platinum, Nav+ and Nav Update Cards.
