IN 1965, Suzuki launched the D55 and began its marine operations as a domestic outboard motor manufacturer.
Just two years later, in 1967, Suzuki started exporting, and today, its products are appreciated by customers in 107 countries worldwide.
Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Toshihiro Suzuki, said Suzuki has prioritised quality in product development to ensure that its customers can use its products safely and securely on the water.
“By providing durable and reliable products, along with customer-oriented after-sales service, we have delivered ‘pleasure’ in the leisure market and supported ‘work’ in the commercial market as a reliable partner, ensuring safety and security on the water,” said Toshihiro Suzuki.
“As we look forward to the next 60 years, we aim to remain a reliable partner for our customers on the water, working in unison with our distributors, dealers, boat builders, and business partners,” he said.
Over the past 60 years, Suzuki has achieved remarkable technological innovations, beginning with the receipt of its first NMMA Innovation Award for the DT200 EXANTE in 1987. To date, Suzuki has received this prestigious award a total of nine times. Notably, since receiving the award for the DF60/70 in 1997, the first for a four-stroke outboard motor, Suzuki has been honoured eight times in the four-stroke category, making it the most awarded in this category.
“We take pride in the fact that these numerous accolades reflect the widespread recognition of Suzuki outboard motors’ technological prowess. We will continue to leverage the technology and experience we have accumulated to achieve sustainable growth,” said Suzuki.
“As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we express our deep gratitude to everyone who has supported us thus far. With renewed determination for the next 60 years, we are committed to further advancing Suzuki outboard motors with consideration for the environment, quality, and safety,” he said.
