IN 1984 Judi and Dave Killalea took thier lure making passion (some would say obsession) and began manufacturing lures commercially. They called their business Killalure.
Many of the Killalure models are still around today – lures such as the Barra Bait and Flatz Rat. Killalure products went on to become a household name with international recognition. They were exported to Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and New Zealand, sold in every major tackle store in Australia as well as AMart, KMart and Big W. Dave and Judi sold Killalure in the late 1990s and stayed on to oversee the conversion to plastic until 2000.
After a short time they launched the DK Lures brand and began manufacturing lures for the Australian marketplace. DK Lures was responsible for models such as the Scaleraza, the Ferret, Eyecon and SnagMaster.
In 2014 they embarked on Old Dog Lures, a boutique handcrafted lure timber lure range.
Dave is responsible for the design and manufacture side of the business while Judi is responsible for the customer service and administration.
Old Dog Lures blend a lifetime of fishing experience, knowledge of CNC and CAD, traditional craft skills, and collaboration with the end users.
