JAPANESE Domestic Market (JDM) rods and reels are known by fishing tackle connoisseurs as prestige products that are not often seen Down Under, so Shimano Australia are thrilled to get their hands on the new Zodias JDM rods.
There are six rods in the range, ranging from one and two-piece light/medium spin, through to a medium/light and a medium/heavy baitcaster and they’ll be looking at connecting with everything from bream, trout and bass, through to Murray cod and estuary barra with these beauties.
Lightness, strength and extreme castability are the watchwords with the new Zodias lineup.
Shimano’s Hi-Power X graphite blanks prevent the rod twisting during the cast and the fight, through the use of Spiral X construction with X Shape carbon tape. They are also extremely sensitive, so the angler has an increased awareness of what is happening to that lure or bait at all times.
The reel seats, whether trigger grip or spin, are made from Shimano’s exclusive CI4+ carbon; the same material as used in a number of reels like the Stradic, Rarenium and Ultegra spin, plus the Chronarch baitcaster. This equates to less weight yet increased strength. Additionally, the custom shaped EVA grips are well-shaped and comfortable to hold.
All six rods in the range have Fuji K-Series Alconite guides and a Fuji silicon carbide (SiC) tip for smooth line travel on the cast and then during the retrieve and fight, with minimal heat build up.
