THE prestigious annual Australian Snapper Fishing Championship is just around the corner, giving anglers from all over Australia the chance to drop a line on the beautiful Eyre Peninsula.

This year’s event, from 25th to 27th March, marks the 25th anniversary of the competition, and organisers have been working hard to ensure this year’s competition is better than ever before.

Anglers dropping a line in the 25th Australian Snapper Championship will be vying for some very exciting prizes.

The lucky competitor who lands the heaviest snapper will be crowned the 2016 Champion Angler and receive the championship trophy, and of course, bragging rights.

The Champion is awarded a huge range of fishing gear, thanks to the great team at Spot On Sportfishing Whyalla in partnership with Shimano.

The champion will also receive an airline voucher for use on any Qantas or QantasLink flight worldwide, thanks to QantasLink, so if you’ve ever wanted to drop a line in overseas waters, this could be your opportunity.

The top 10 leader board is back again this year, with thousands of dollars’ worth of fishing gear up for grabs.
Bring the whole family along for a great weekend of fishing, or enjoy all the fun and entertainment of the Family Festival on the Whyalla Foreshore.

General tickets will be on sale until 5pm on Tuesday, March 22 and late entries will be accepted at the 25th anniversary event opening, to be held on Thursday, March 24 from 5pm until 10 at the Sportfishing Club.
