Designed by Rob Koelewyn, the guy behind the brilliant Van Staal threadline range, 3 TAND fly reels have recently landed in Australia. These superbly engineered reels offer plenty to the discerning fresh or salt water fly fisher, yet are surprisingly affordable.
3 TANDs are offered in two series – the TF range designed primarily for fresh water and light salt water, and the T range that’s aimed squarely at the blue water sportfisher seeking bigger, tougher opponents. All reels are made from fully machined 6061 T-6 grade aluminium, which is cold forged, tempered and diamond turned before being anodised.
Machining tolerances in these reels are typical of Koelewyn’s work. They are designed to run smoothly and are well sealed against water intrusion. All models are fitted with a Nano carbon fibre drag system (patent pending), which is totally sealed and guaranteed to stay cool, even with a hot-running sportfish on the business end.
3 TAND reels cater for all line classes, from 2wt right up to 15wt. Spare spools are available throughout the range and, of course, all models can be changed from left to right hand wind in a matter of seconds.
