A new ANSA Australian record for snapper has been successfully achieved by South Australian angler, Ashley Smith of Arno Bay.
Taken on a Squidgy soft plastic lure by Smith on March 29, the monster red went on to weigh in at 13.5kgs, or a fraction under the magic 30 pound mark, six hours after capture.
While it is believed the 1070mm snapper may well have weighed close to 14kg at the time of capture it nonetheless was accepted by ANSA on April 29 as an all new Australian all tackle record for the species.
