Bass recaptured after nearly 25 years

A bass in Lake Somerset in Queensland has been out for 24.7 years

IF you were born after the 17th of December 1992, this fish was originally caught and tagged before you were born!

This bass in Lake Somerset, Queensland, has been out for 24.7 years and breaks the Suntag record for the longest time between captures.

Interestingly, the fish is an incredibly slow grower being 360mm when tagged and just 460mm when recaptured on the 27th of August this year. That’s just 100mm growth in 9,019 days.

Check out the good condition of the tag after being in the water for all that time. Good reason for us to use Hallprint tags, according to Sunfish.
