BETS RD 2 Wrap: Lake Macquarie

TEAM Compleat Angler/Koolabung/Yozuri made their mark in Round 2 of the BETS Series last weekend at Lake Macquarie on the NSW Central Coast.

Anglers Peter Macor and Troy van Kampen found success by fishing their favoured cockle beds at the southern end of the lake – despite the handicap of a malfunctioning GPS unit. Using landmarks to pinpoint their fishy areas, the team fished Koolabung blades and consistently score solid fish throughout the day, eventually presenting a cracking 4.56kg bag, well clear of the second placed team.

The standout fish was a 1.23kg bream that took the team to the top of the board and a $3800 and Engel Camppack payout.

The only other team to exceed the four kilo bag mark was another consistently high placed team, Rotech Australia. Warwick and Eric Cregan anchored their bag with an even better fish of 1.30kg but just couldn’t quite keep the average weight up to challenge the leaders. Never the less their 4.13kg was a sterling effort earning the boys $2200 and a Mako Eyewear Prize Pack each.

Last year’s Grand Final winners Scott and Vicki Lear of McPhail Real Estate’s 3.83kg bag scored them $1800 and $300 in Tacklepower Vouchers for third place.
