BACK in June we brought you the story of three men caught spearing and shooting trout in the Tarago River, Victoria.
We can now report that, after pleading guilty in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court last Wednesday, the men have been ordered to pay $1,400 each. Firearms and equipment have also been forfeited.
The closed trout season in Victoria runs from early June until September, during which time anglers cannot take or possess trout in rivers and streams, unless they are designated “sea-run trout”. Taking trout with a spear or firearm is illegal at all times.
