LAST week’s story about the capture of a shovel-sized dusky flathead at St Georges Basin by fishing guide Greg Reid received a lot of interest from Fisho readers.
The next day we were contacted by Tim McGoldrick who’d been on the Basin that morning with his mate Peter Roth – the latter had also joined the “nineties club” with the impressive 92cm lizard seen hereabouts.
Tim told Fisho, “Not sure if you could use this but we managed a 92cm/5.5kg (electronic scales) flatty in the Basin this morning (last Friday) in 1 metre of water. Squidgy Wriggler 80 in the dark blood worm colour. Angler: Peter Roth.”
Thanks Tim, and great catch Peter!
It seems the big flathead have really come on the bite on the NSW South Coast; a report in the South Coast Register last week featured one helluva flattie caught by Ashleigh Clarke. Anyone care to guess how big this fish was? Check it out HERE!
No doubt more readers will be in touch soon to report on their latest big lizard successes – stay tuned!
