APART from the north of Western Australia where a sportfishery based around bonefish now exists, the much-prized “ghost of the flats” isn’t a regular catch around our country’s coastline.
So when Fisho received an email today with some attached pics of bonefish caught in waters more known for big kings, we took some notice!
Fishing charter operator Keith Galloway of Lord Howe Island emailed us the pics you see here, which feature two nice bonefish taken off a rock platform. Amazingly the bones were caught on a 40 gram metal Raider lure.
Keith says the lucky angler, Dion Nobbs, was fishing at a spot called Old Gough and was spinning for kings. The Raider was allowed to sink to the bottom before being retrieved. The technique surprisingly accounted for two bonefish in consecutive casts.
Both fish were released.
Half your luck Dion!
