IF snagging a feisty rainbow trout wasn’t exciting enough, keen recreational anglers can now add further enjoyment to their fishing experience by catching a tagged fish and receiving a trout lure as a reward.
NSW DPI has released yearling rainbow trout into Oberon Dam and Khancoban Pondage as part of a long-term stocking strategy for the dams to combat predation from redfin.
Those who catch a tagged trout should report their information online HERE, or by phoning the hotline on 1800 185 027. Following the report, anglers will be rewarded with an Oar Gee “Lil Ripper” lure in return.
Your information will let NSW DPI Fisheries Managers determine a size class of stocked fish that can avoid redfin predation and improve stocking practices in the future.
