THE popular Dave Irvine Memorial Snapper Classic will be staged at Coffs Harbour over August 22-23, giving competing anglers the chance for quality fish in prime reddie time.
There was some doubt over the competition, which honours the life of Environet inventor Dave Irvine, being run this year due to the Deep Sea Fishing Club’s ongoing financial problems, however, comp officials told Fisho the 2015 event will be run out of the Coffs Harbour Yacht Club.
A briefing will be held at the Yacht Club on Friday, August 21, with the comp running over the Saturday and Sunday.
The comp has traditionally been held during the June long weekend, which is considered very early for Coffs snapper. Moving the comp to late August should result in much better catches of these popular inshore sportfish.
Fisho is proud to be associated with the Dave Irvine Memorial Snapper Classic. It’s a fantastic comp and Dave was a great bloke. We’ll be running info on the Classic on fishingworld.com.au and via our social media platforms from now until the comp runs in August.
