PRESIDENT of Inland Waterways Matthew Hansen has been awarded a NSW government Community Service Award by Premier Galdys Berejiklian and local MP Troy Grant.
According to an article in the Daily Liberal, Premier Berejiklian said Mr Hansen made a huge difference to the livability of Dubbo and to really improving the quality of waterways.
“You’ve been an enormous example to others to follow in your footsteps, to inspire others to volunteer and to lead such strong teamwork makes you a highly worthy recipient.”
Mr Hansen said he was ‘shaking like a leaf’.
“Thankyou Premier and Troy, in all honestly, that’s blown me away … 10 years ago we started … walking down Macquarie Street and selling $2 raffle tickets to buy fish for the river.
“Thank you to everybody on our volunteer committee, every local business that’s ever dug deep and sponsored the lake Burrendong classic and inland waterways and to my co-founder Mick O’Neill.
“We’re just a great team of normal Dubbo people.”
