A GUIDE for Dhipirri Barra and Sportfishing Lodge Arnhemland is recovering in Royal Darwin Hospital after a freakish incident with a crocodile.
Sean Fiumara suffered damage to his right leg when pulled into the water from a standing position on the boat. A statement from Dhipirri Barra and Sportfishing Lodge said only quick thinking on his part, and with the assistance of his clients who lifted him out of the water, saw him get out of danger.
Sean’s clients were unharmed, and the boat safely returned to Dhipirri Lodge. He was transported to Milingimbi Medical Clinic for initial care and assessment, and then transferred by Care Flight to Darwin with further treatment at RDH.
Dhipirri Barra and Sportfishing Lodge said it is extremely grateful that Sean was not seriously injured and want to stress this was not the result of any negligence on his part.
Management at the Arnhemland lodge said this incident is a sobering reminder of the dangerous nature of being in the habitat of crocodiles and that we need to be Croc Wise at all time.
“We are happy to pass on well wishes for Sean, who is in good spirits and is aware of just how lucky he was.”
