Daly Barra Classic concludes

TEAM Top End Tackle World has taken out the 34th NT Barramundi Classic on the Daly River and presented with highly sought after “barra on a stick” trophies.

The successful team consists of father and son duo Steve and Shane Compain, and Terry Ryan.

The Darwin Game Fishing Club once again hosted the 34th running of the annual barra catch & release tournament which sees anglers competing from right around Australia in the five-day event.

The award winners for the 34th NT Barramundi Classic were:
Champion Team – Top End Tackle World – Steve and Shane Compain and Terry Ryan – 2165 Points
Most Meritorious Capture – Rohan Short – 119cm
Champion Lady Angler – Rocky Edwards – 365 Points
Runner Up Angler Visitor – Dan McLellan – 595 Points
Runner Up Angler Local – Rohan Short – 880 Points
Champion Team – Runner Up Visitors – Team 4B’s Shane Biddle, Graeme Light and Andrew Dibartolo – 570 Points
Champion Team – Runner Up Mixed – Team Bumble Bee – Dan McLellan, Peter Nawai, Steven Pope – 1525 Points
Champion Team – Runner Up Local – Let Loose – Daniel James, Jarrod James, Danny Naujok – 1550 Points
Col Cordingly Champion Angler (3 years running) – Steve Compain – 1015 Points

With final numbers of fish caught and released still to be finalised, by Day 4 of competition a total of 597 barra had been caught & released with 106 fish accounted for on the day.

Other notable catches come from The Silver Diamonds, with Mike Rankin and a 107cm fish and Reel Easy’s Neal Melon and a 116cm barra.
