Rock fishos in NSW are being warned to take extreme care this weekend due to dangerous surf conditions that are expected to hit the state.
The expected rough conditions result from a severe tropical cyclone located (at 10am Thursday Jan 27) some 550km S/SE of Fiji. Severe Tropical Cyclone Wilma is moving west-southwest and expected to maintain strength for the next few days. As a result, weather experts say there is a reasonable likelihood that dangerous surf conditions for rock fishers and swimmers will occur over the weekend, possible as early as late Friday.
Large swells are expected to result from the cyclone, with swells potentially several minutes apart.
Rock fishos and boaties are advised to take extreme caution or avoid fishing at all this weekend.
