FOLLOWING the deaths of up to a million fish in the lower Darling river earkier this year, Federal Labor leader Bill Shorten has requested leading Australian scientists conduct a study into causes of the fish kill and the wider issue of water mismanagement, according to this article in the Sydney Morning Herald.
Meanwhile, the Government via Federal Water Minister David Littleproud has also commissioned an independant study into the fish kill, but the report from that study will not be handed down until after the NSW election. You can read that report from Farm Online HERE.
Lastly, this article in the Sydney Morning Herald reports that mayors from towns along the embattled Barwon Darling river system this week travelled to Sydney for a meeting at the Government’s Martin Place headquarters, only to find themselves snubbed by NSW Water Minister Niall Blair who failed to show up.
