FOLLOWING last week’s report that drought had exposed a major flaw in the proposed Macquarie River pipeline project designed to backup Orange’s water supply (see details HERE), comes more evidence of the project’s non-viability.
Fisho today received these images taken on the Australia Day public holiday at the section of Macquarie River below the Turon junction.
Despite widespread opposition and such evidence revealing the potential for long term environmental damage to the waterway and its reliant fish and animal populations, the controversial project is still expected to go ahead.
Meanwhile, fishing and environmental groups continue to pressure the Orange City Council to look at other viable alternatives for “drought-proofing” their town.
