FADs installed on Torquay Artificial Reef

THERE are now five fish aggregating devices (FADs) for anglers to try out on the artificial reef off Torquay, Victoria.

Last week commercial divers assisted the Victorian Fisheries Authority in attaching each FAD to the concrete reef modules 25m below.

There have been local reports of kingfish being caught off the reef this week. Now’s the time to go get ’em!

The FADs will be installed for six months, when kingfish are most active, then removed to reduce the risk of damage during large winter swells or entanglement during whale migration.
