FOUR people whose boat sank yesterdayoff Sydney were found clinging to an esky and rescued after settingoff an EPIRB.
Two men and two children were fishingabout five miles off Sydney heads when they noticed smoke coming from the boat’s engine and watergushing onboard.
According to news reports, thequick-thinking skipper fitted life jackets to the children, set off the GME EPIRB (electronic beacon), andjumped in the water holding an esky.
Rescuers were notified of the exactposition of the four people in the water and successfully performed the rescue.
News reports said one of the mensuffered minor burns. Authorities praised the efforts of the skipper for carrying and deploying theproper emergency safety equipment.
