As part of Fishing World’s 40th Anniversary celebrations we’ve acquired a special preview of clips of classic sportfishing footage by renowned Aussie filmmaker and photographer Ossie Emery.
The footage contains highlights of the seminal Aussie TV fishing show A Fisherman’s World, filmed by Emery and starring Fishing World’s founding editor, Ron Calcutt, and features some well known faces in Aussie sportfishing.
Feature clips include footage from popular A Fisherman’s World episodes such as Spinning For Spaniards – filmed on the rock ledges of the northern NSW coast and highlighting some amazing big mackerel off the stones action.
There’s also epic offshore fishing action 1970s style, featuring game fishing for big marlin and sharks and a monumental yellowfin tuna that took place off Montague Island, in what is by today’s standards, a pretty small boat.
It’s all classic stuff from an era when it all began for sportfishing in this country. Enjoy!
