FISHING guide Greg Reid of Bay & Basin Sportfishing this week reports some of his clients have experienced some first class sportfishing along the NSW South Coast at Jervis Bay and St Georges Basin.
With school holidays in full swing last week Reid has put some keen young fishos onto some very memorable catches. Amongst his happiest clients over the past week was 12-year-old Dylan Pollard who no doubt is still wearing a massive grin after catching and releasing the monster flathead seen in the accompanying photo. Amazingly, young Dylan scored the monster lizard at St Georges Basin during his first ever lure fishing session.
Reid reports that black drummer, aka pigs, have been turning it on Jervis Bay of late with his clients accounting for a total of around 120 landed in a four day period from the region’s prolific wash zones. Reid says for many who had never experienced the power of a black drummer it was definitely a memorable experience when they did! He says peeled prawns cast into the suds have been producing the goods. Once the prawn are flicked out Reid’s only advice to clients has been, “Get ready to hang on!”
One youngster who did hang on to a nice pugilistic pig was 11-year-old Charlie pictured below. Reid reports it was the first fish the youngster had ever caught. Well done Charlie!
