SCOTT Ballantyne and his dad Danny are two very honest fishermen.
The father and son were out fishing one morning on the NSW south coast when they found a barnacle encrusted GoPro camera. It turned out the camera had been lost four months earlier by Aussie Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) champion and Hobie Team rider Justin Holland during a photo shoot at the Pambula River mouth.
After a couple of hours of chipping away at the barnacles, the Ballantynes got the waterproof camera case opened. Scott put the SD card in his computer and was surprised to see perfect video footage. Their neighbour, a paddle boarder, recognised the champion Hobie SUP rider. They figured the footage was too good to lose so they sent the camera, case and mount back to Hobie Cat.
The camera had actually been in the water long enough for Holland to travel to Hawaii for some warm up SUP events and then onto Peru where he came second in the world championships.
