AFTA highlights were aplenty this year and three days almost wasn’t enough to really find everything there was to see. So here are Fisho’s favourites…
Meeting Gary Loomis at the show was a buzz as he showed off his new Edge brand of rods which Fish-Tec Solutions will be bring into the country.

Halco showed off its 140 Laser Pro which is sure to be a hit all over the world just like its bigger and small siblings.

The Deeper Wireless Fish Finder, brought into the country by Rapala VMC, took out the prize for Best Fishing or Boating Accessory. It’s a device that can be tied to a rod and cast out and will wirelessly transmit sonar information making your smartphone into a sounder in your hand.

A “why didn’t I think of that” product came from Pure Fishing in the form of the Pflueger Trion Transcendent travel rod is a five piece design that’s actually four rods in one so you can configure it to whatever you you require at the time. So whether you want a light rod one day and medium rod the next, the Transcendent can do it.

Then you have the products that push new boundaries of technical innovation like the new line being distributed by Jarvis Walker called GLISS. A hybrid of braid and mono that may carry the best properties of both.

Then of course there are the new lures which is many anglers favourites. Storm brought us a new line of Japanese designed lures like the Arashi 25 which was a hit with the Cod fishos as was the beautiful Megabass Derby X.

Tackle Tactics also had a popular new product with its Snake LockZ range of jigheads which had a range of different weight and hook sizes which were all interchangeable and will surely spawn some new fishing techniques for Aussie species.
