AS Fisho reported earlier this year, prior to the QLD state election Labor promised to establish net-free zones in Trinity Inlet, St Helens Bay and the Fitzroy River.

While it has been reported the QLD Labor Government aims to live up to its commitment to establish these net-free areas, pressure from the commercial fishing sector has stalled the process.
Rec fishos who want to have further say on this important issue can now do so by completing a Fisheries QLD online survey on the appropriateness of the proposed net-free boundaries.
There is also a petition to parliament to ensure that the government follows through on its election promise – fill out the petition HERE.
