Fox travel rods

I WAS recently invited to accompany Fox Sport Fishing Tackle’s Andy Little on a fishing trip to test two of their multi piece travel rods. These are serious rods that have been carefully designed and tested to tackle big fish. The multi piece rod blanks are manufactured in their own factory and are all built on individual mandrels to ensure maximum strength.

We had on board the “V Jig XT” jigging rod that was matched to the new Stratos 20000 TS two speed jigging reel and the “Stand Up XT Trek” game rod that was designed to handle the World’s largest game fish on stand up 80lb tackle. These are both 4 piece rods and boast quality components and workmanship.

The V Jig XT rod is fitted with Fox Sliks guides and Fuji reel seat and gimbal. This rod is designed to fish big jigs up to 700 grams and will easily fish 80lb braid. Once dismantled this rod fits neatly in it’s protective bag and carry case. It weighs just under a kilogram in the case and is 61.25 cm long.

The XT Trek rod features the American Stuart roller guides, reel seat and gimbal. The rod has been designed to be used with a stand up harness to make full use of its power while fighting big fish. It easily dismantles and fits into the protective bag and case. When packed away it weighs just under 1.5 kilograms and has a length of 51.25 cm.

Both of these rods are great for the travelling fisho where rod tubes are always a hassle, whether it is on planes or even in small cars. These rod cases can easily be stored in your baggage.
