The Gaden Trout Hatchery at Jindabyne NSW is looking for volunteers to be involved in annual trout fin clipping exercises.
Thousands of fingerlings are fin-clipped before release so they can be later identified in fish catch research. This task usually takes a team of NSW Industry & Investment staff and angler volunteers up to a week to complete.
In the past, vague scheduling had made rounding up volunteers difficult for acclimatisation societies. At a recent Trout Allocation meeting it was agreed that better organisation and forewarning of the event would make it easier for volunteers to take part.
If you are interested in joining the volunteers next year, please let the NSW Council of Freshwater Anglers know via email at info@freshwateranglers.com.au and they will contact you prior to the fin clipping date.
