FISHOS who’ve ventured to remote areas of northern Australia may have heard stories, or witnessed firsthand, the antics of the giant Queensland groper that has developed a bit of a reputation as a “fish stealer”…
A fisho who recently encountered such a groper while filming in Cape York was TV presenter/fishing writer Rob Paxevanos.
“We came across a giant groper that stole six big metre plus barra/queenies from us in short succession … and was still hungry,” Paxevanos told Fisho.
While the big groper displayed an equally big appetite for lively fresh fish, no one on board expected it to hit a lure, albeit one measuring 73 cm long … see the result below.
