Great white sharks encountered near city

The following pics of a great white shark were sent in by Adelaide-based fisho Andrew “Lefty” Wright, who recently had the pleasure of the shark’s company while fishing off the city’s coast in a 5m tinny.

Lefty described the shark, which spent an hour around his boat (at all times within 10 metres) as a “small one” at around 12 feet (4m) in length, adding that it was very docile and behaved “like a kitten”. He described the encounter as a “wonderful experience”.

The great white was encountered about 3kms off North Haven, a north-western Adelaide suburb. There have been reports of sharks to 20ft in length off the region in recent weeks.

The follow photos were taken on a mobile phone.
