ASHLEY Smith from South Australia’s Arno Bay Fishing Adventures has been smashing the samson fish this week. Smith said on Monday alone 30 fish were caught on jigs ranging from 6kg up to the 35kg monster pictured here.
“It was a two man job to pick it up,” said Smith. “We weighed some of the bigger ones in the net and they bottomed scales out at 25kg, this fish (pictured) was much larger.”
Smith caught many in the 15-18kg bracket five over 20kg, plus quite a few tuna.
