THE Lake Macquarie Trophy Flathead Tagging Program recently reached a significant milestone with the 1000th big dusky flathead tagged & released in the popular recreational fishing haven.
It has been almost seven years of dedicated effort by a small group of passionate lake anglers to reach this grand total.
According to my records, over 60 anglers have tagged and released trophy flathead in Lake Macquarie over this period, but I’ve included the tagging totals for those that have put the hours in to tag 20 or more crocs in our local waterway.
Thanks to NSW DPI Fisheries for its ongoing support and stocking of Lake Macquarie (especially the flatties).
